How to Keep Cool During Sleep: A Look at Coolmax Fabric
Fabric selection is just as important as your mattress and pillows. On average you spend 33% of your life in bed. Getting a quality night’s sleep can dramatically improve your physical and mental health.
Many of our products come with COOLMAX® covers. COOLMAX® keeps you cool while you sleep. The unique fibres of the fabric actively pull moisture away from the skin to the outer layer where it dries up to 3 times faster than standard cotton. This fabric is particularly useful for people suffering from night sweats, severe illness and menopause.
How does it work?
COOLMAX® fibres are not round, but are slightly oblong in cross-section with grooves running lengthwise along the threads. This enables capillary action that wicks moisture through the core and out to a wider area on the surface of the fabric which increases evaporation. This improved moisture management allows the transport of moisture away from the skin to the outer layer of the fabric where it evaporates up to 3 times faster than standard cotton. Simply put; temperature controlled bedding gives more relief than using lighter duvets and blankets.
You may think that due to its performance specification the fabric may not be comfortable to sleep on however it is actually incredibly soft and flexible (you don’t need to iron it as its non-crease).
Depending on the use of the fabric you can either use it directly next to your skin or use with a pillowcase or sheet. Most of our COOLMAX® covers are removable and come with sewn in washing instructions. We also sell spare covers here.
We use only 100% COOLMAX®, no blends so you can rest assured that only the highest standard of temperature control fabric is being used.
COOLMAX® fabric is ideal for:
- Hot flushes caused by medication or illness
- Night sweats
- Sufferers of menopause
- Excessive sweating
COOLMAX® keeps you feeling fresh no matter how long you are lying down and is resistant to fading shrinkage and creasing and is machine washable at 60 °C (fabric softeners and chlorine bleach should not be used).
Especially in these Summer months this amazing fabric is our go to for fabric choice.
